How Does A Geothermal System Operate?

Geothermal heating and cooling systems are unlike any other home comfort system available.  Conventional forced air or boiler systems create heat from burning fossil fuels including oil and gas.  Geothermal systems use small amounts of electricity to power compressors and blower fans.  

During the heating season WaterFurnace geothermal collect the stored heat from the earth and transfers that warmth to your home through a series of underground pipes called loops.  Liquid in the ground loops is circulated into your home to a compressor and a heat exchanger where it is compressed to a higher temperature and is sent as warm air throughout your home.

During the cooling season the process is reversed. The system removes heat from your home and delivers it to the cooler earth below and the air conditioned, cooler air is delivered to your home.
