What are you looking for in an employee? The biggest factor in becoming an employee at Gibson’s Heating and Plumbing is attitude. Are you willing to work hard and make this a career? Are you willing to put the customer first? Are you willing to stay an extra hour at work in order to make sure your customer has heat before you head home?
I am just a heating technician or plumber? Can I stick with what I know or do I have to be cross trained?Almost all of our employees tend to focus and be better in one trade more than another. However, we do like to have everyone crossed trained to a certain extent. If we are out at a home working on the furnace and the customer has a pipe under the sink leaking we want to be able to take care of it for them right then and not later. Now we do realize some projects may need more of an expert to look at them, this is why we do our best to make sure your calls stay focused in your area of expertise.
How does your on-call work?We are a service company, which means we need to be able 24/7 for our customers. If our customers have no heat, no water or other emergency situations outside of regular working hours we need to have someone who’s able to take care of them. We do this by having two of service field employees on call who will take care of the customers when needed. Currently a service field employee will be on call one night a week and one weekend day once a month. However, as we continue to grow the on call rotation will continue to grow also.
This way our service field employees are on-call less.
