Backflow Testing and Prevention For Northeast Indiana
What Is Backflow?Backflow is the undesirable reverse flow of water from any source into the distribution pipes of the city water system. Backflow can cause very serious problems to our drinking water.
The best way to explain the risk involved is to imagine that one end of a garden hose is attached to your home’s water system and the other end is placed in a bucket of herbicide. An abrupt loss of water occurs in the main line serving your home. This can happen due to a water main break or large amounts of water released from a fire hydrant. The pressure drop causes a serve reverse flow in the water line and in a system with no backflow prevention insecticide from the bucket is sucked into your home’s drinking water and potentially into the main water line serving our community.
